If you have a Paid or Permanent account, you can now send 10 of your non-Paid friends a $10 coupon. Your friend will be able to purchase a Paid Account for $9.95 (instead of $19.95) for one year by enrolling in our automatic payment plan or make a manual payment of $15 (instead of $25).
* All Paid and Permanent accounts can send out the coupons by clicking here (it's also under Friends -> Holiday promotion in the site header)
* You can also send to people not on your Friends list by manually entering the username in the field provided
* If your friend declines the invitation, it will be returned to your available invitation pool and you'll be able to send to someone else
* You can send the invitations until January 15th
Yep, the automatical yearly payment takes the discount, so that's $10 off not just once but apparently *in perpetuity* if you want to sign up now. If this worked for renewals I'd be asking one of you to give me a code b/c I pay $35/year including my extra userpics. So this is a seriously good deal!
If anyone wants to take advantage of this, let me know - I have a permanent account, so I can comply ;)

As i'm sure you're now all very well aware, my job is giving me very high levels of stress, too high for what i'm paid and what i do. It's reached the point where i'm having actual anxiety attacks over the thought of going in to clean the office. I would like to quit.
I wanted to quit and go into a job but my mood has become so low that i don't have the motivation to look. It occurs to me that i can probably go on some sort of benefit as i hunt and just quit my job now. I'd really like to, but being entirely unemployed brings about a whole new game of stress.
My question therefore is, should i stay or should i go?

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Announcing my new music page, which can be found at soundcloud.com/musoholic/. From now on I'll be using this page to demo my audio work, both musical and sound design. Regular listeners and special friends may find they get email invites to exclusive material as more and more of it becomes available!
As folks may or may not know I'm currently in the market for accepting commissions to record music with, or for, other artists, or to create original pieces of sound design for theatrical, LRP or film works. I have a fully functional home studio - in fact all of the tracks (bar one) on my Soundcloud site were recorded at home! Please send me an email or get in touch if you want to discuss further.
Enjoy!

Right I was holding off posting this till my brother was told. Yesterday my father lost his job as the company he worked for was forclosed by the bank. With Christmass round the coner I'm not sure if he can get any JSA until mid Janury.
Also because swine flu is on the decress I might be three steps behind him. This means that only my mother will be bringing in any money and she only gets £8,000 a year.
I really need to find a more stable job.

Soo....
Things pretty rubbish but looking for the good surprisingly easy considering i'm definitely feeling the fingers of depression stroking the edges of my mind.
Recent rundown of happy:
Thurs/fri: crippling period pains meant Al gave lots of lovely cuddles
Sat: NaNoWriMo TGIO party - meeting up with everyone lots of fun. Was told about this website, which has lots of lovely happy moments. Also, LarLar managed to battle her demons and made it out to meet us all, which is a big deal and i'm really glad she did - it was so nice to see who she is. Also, met Polo at the station to walk her down to town adn we just clicked and talked so much that she missed her train home and had to crash on our sofa! (Which again shows how awesome Al is, cos he didn't mind me invading our house with someone he'd never met despite his shyness.) Think i've acquired a new long term friend there. Also nice to see Aqua and Leebear and Laura and Andy and everyone again :)
Sun: Erin and Will came over and Al cooked dinner for all of us.
Mon: left keys at home so Al drove down to work with them and gave me a kiss instead of a winge.
Today, had to go to bank to find out what i can do about rent coming out before pay going in (again...). Saw an interesting book on a stand outside a secondhand shop. Spoke to lovely person in bank who was so helpful that i feel much calmer about everything, then on way back book was still there and woman in charge said i could have it for 20p. It looks like a proper children's book, Swallows and Amazons sort of style.

I have seen LRP-safe shuriken for sale on some website or other (I forget which one), but I've had this idea for a while. Never managed to finish one yet, though.
Admittedly my design looks more than a bit daft, not at all authentic (not that you can really expect much of that in LRP weaponry) but will never jab someone nastily* in the eye.

Template for the shuriken shape:

Central layer template: the square in both this and the shuriken shape template is a hole cut right the way through. The circles in this one are the hollow sections to be filled with latex, as indicated in the cross-section

Cross-section view:

I made a prototype a while back, all made with 2mm foam and without the solid latex sections (the above designs are the revised ones drawn up after the prototype)
It flies okay, but tends to spiral during flight. With practice, a fair degree of accuracy is possible. Haven't applied any finishing latex to it. Once I find the damned thing again, I may add a picture.
At some point I will be making some of these for
ginger_rikku , once I have the time and space to work in

We think we know the horrors of the world. We think we understand them, and that we're doing the best we can, but that we've got our own problems to deal with...
Remind yourself.
You don't need to volunteer. You don't need to donate. Just stop thinking of victims as less than yourself, or than anyone else. Accept them as the same as yourself, and try to make sure that the people you know and the people you love do the same, and then you can say that in some small way, you're doing your part.

Hi, my name is David and I am a first time poster to this community. I live in the UK, and am a friendly, happy chatty person :) I'm looking forward to being part of this community this year :)
Happy Holidays!!
My List:
1 - Anything Godzilla related. Godzilla rocks! Preferably the true Godzilla not that fish eating fake that we saw in a certain movie in the 90s :P :)
2 - Anything Studio Ghibli related
3 - Interesting stones from anywhere in the world, with a little note on where they came from and why you think they're interesting :)
4 - RPG books you don't want any more. I love them all, tho white wolf would be good right now. I'm looking for hard copies, as I have disk copies and they're not as readable.
5 - Headphones for my ipod nano - mine broke lately :(
6 - anything from Lush :)
Thankyou in advance for anything you do send me :) Contact me on chastisement @hotmail.com for my home address if you need it :)

wererogue's post...
We're having a New Year's Party! And, so long as we know you, you're with someone we know, and/or you let us know you're coming, you're invited!
We reckon it's a great idea, because:
1.
longpig's awesome sister
elanya will be here
2. If anyone else is having one, we haven't heard about it yet
3. Our place has 3 decent-sized rooms, all connected, which can accommodate snack tables
So, set the date (that's December 31st, New Year's Eve,) bring some booze, and come and enjoy our snacks! We'll probably get something going on the projector, and maybe some music in the spare room.
Kids absolutely welcome! We have a kid-friendly dog, so that shouldn't be a problem at all.

Bill Bailey has pointed out on twitter that the christmas number one is always whiny x-factor stuff and has directed his followers to this site, to see if enough people can be convinced to buy 'Killing in the Name' on the 13th of december to ensure that that becomes the christmas number one instead. Sounds a pretty good cause to me, at least!
